Multilayer Wraps

multilayer

Multilayer (Multicomponent) compression wrapping is a treatment that consists of 2,3 or 4 layers of wound dressings, support and compression to both treat the wound, absorb drainage and reduce edema.  The wraps can be further divided in elastic versus inelastic, short stretch versus long stretch, and stockings or bandages.  These wraps may follow gradient sequential compression, and are selected based on the patients mobility.  These wraps should be changed during each office visit, or every 2-3 days.
