Electrical Stimulation

Electrical stimulation

Electrical stimulation, or "e-stim," can be used on a wide array of different wounds, but works best on stage 3 and 4 pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, arterial insufficient wounds and venous insufficient wounds.  This treatment is painless and includes the use of electrodes placed around or inside the wound to attract different molecules to the site of injury.  It also increases oxygen transport and blood flow, and has antibacterial affects.  Treatment time is typically 45 minutes to 1 hour, patients should be seen 3-5 times per week.
